A Message from Pastor Andrea Chaumont
Tsh Oxenreider in her Advent devotional Shadow and Light writes “When we start driving a new-to-us car, it isn’t long before it seems like the make and model of our car has multiplied. We see it everywhere - in parking lots across from our spot and in traffic jams the next land over. We are made aware of our car’s existence elsewhere in our surroundings, we see it where we didn’t see it before.” Rev. Erin Grayson encouraged us to “look up” and look around during this season of Advent, to notice God. It is so easy to get caught up in the “daily grind,” without looking up and look around for Jesus in our midst. Yet, the season of Advent is all about active waiting. Active waiting looks for signs of God’s presence, notices the small and the big ways that God shows up and expects God to show up. Where have you noticed God today? This week we light the candle for peace. We live in a troubled time. Jesus was born into a troubled time, and John the Baptist was in trouble. From prison, he sends his disciples to ask Jesus “are you the one?” The good news of this season is that he is in fact the one we all have been waiting for.
Advent Blessings,
Pastor Andrea
