“Efficiency is the enemy of infancy.”
Last Sunday, I preached about children — that children are not the future of the church; they are the church. And that we adults can both provide guidance to them in their spiritual lives…and they to us!
I quoted a child psychologist named Haim Ginott, who wrote a book titled “Between Parents and Children” many years ago. It was originally published in 1965, went out of print, then — Hurrah! — has been revised and re-released. I highly recommend it to all parents! From the book:
“Efficiency is the enemy of infancy.”
I might say that, in many areas of our lives as adults, this adage still holds. “Efficiency is the enemy of intimacy with God, with each other, with our own spiritual selves.
There is a ready opportunity for spiritual growth at MBPPC this summer, and it involves children. It is our Vacation Bible School, taking place August 4-8. Do you know a child who might be a good participant to welcome to this time? Perhaps one of your own children or grandchildren, or a neighbor.
Would you like to help with VBS? Look for an announcement elsewhere in this newsletter. It would be great for us to provide a fun, inspiring VBS for the Mt Baker Park community and beyond!
