Congregational Meeting May 18

If you are interested in learning more about the pastoral transition process, and (if you are an active congregation member) voting for Session leadership that will extend through the transition, then please attend this Sunday’s congregational meeting after worship.

There are two items on the meeting agenda:

The Nominating Committee elected at our last congregational meeting (in January) will be presenting a slate of nominees to serve as ruling elders on session (the church governing board). At all times, the session is the authorized body that oversees church life, from setting a budget to hiring staff to guiding worship and education to stewarding the building and equipment, and much more. This particular session will be charged with selecting an interim minister, who will serve as pastor between the time I retire and the next called pastor arrives.

Our current session members will explain the pastoral transition process. This explanation will include the pastoral transition itself — when I end my pastorate, who takes over and when, and how successor pastors are selected (and by whom).

This will also be my last congregational meeting as pastor. I will share a few brief words and offer a prayer for all of you as you live into the next chapter in the life of MBPPC.

In Christ,

Lee
